In a culture of keyboard warriors, Hulah brings people back to sharing real conversations with it’s network full of real people. Our vision is simple: our technology is built to truly bring people together worldwide.

After matching, users may message but must schedule a 5 min video chat within 48 hours of matching or the match expires.

Heather Hopkins
 Founder

Heather Hopkins is an influencer turned dating app founder. She started one of the first dating podcasts in 2017 where she quickly grew an audience. Before that, she served as VP at fashion brands and lead marketing & design at various startups.

Heather Hopkins is currently the Founder & CEO of Hulah. In 2018. As a 22 year old Heather Hopkins conceived the idea for Hulah after spending time chatting with app matches for days or months, then finally meeting in person and knowing that it wouldn’t be a good fit within the first five minutes of conversation.

She ran randomized focus groups in Uber Pools to figure out what real people wanted from dating apps, and found out that many of their complaints were similar: wasted resources, catfishing issues, awkward or unsafe first meetings, and endless texting.

Hopkins was also able to draw inspiration from audience input on her popular dating podcast “The Hookup”. She quickly realized that implementing a required scheduled video chat within 48 hours of “matching” is the most effective and fun way to address their concerns. "There are too many wasted first dates, get to know who they really are before a date." Heather's story can be seen in Entrepreneur, Forbes, Adweek, Bustle, AskMen, and more.
